Udit Narayan to receive India's Padma Bhushan
Bollywood singer of Nepali origin Udit Narayan Jha has been decorated with India's most prestigious awards - Padma Bhushan- for the year 2016.Bollywood singer of Nepali origin Udit Narayan Jha has been decorated with India's most prestigious awards - Padma Bhushan- for the year 2016.
The Padma Award that will be presented on India's Republic Day, on January 26 comprises of three prestigious awards—Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Awards.
Born in Bhardah, Saptari in Nepal, Narayan has won three National Film Awards (India) and five Filmfare Awards. In 2001, Narayan was awarded the Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu by the late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. In 2009, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

According to a news report in The Times of India, actors Rajinikanth, Anupam Kher, Udit Narayan, Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra will be honoured with Padma Awards for their contributions to cinema.
Actor Rajinikanth is being conferred Padma Vibhushan, while Kher and Narayan are being awarded the Padma Bhushan and Priyanka Chopra and Ajay Devgn are being bestowed with Padma Shri.
Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Vibhushan), classical singer Girija Devi (Vibhushan), the late Dhirubhai Ambani (Vibhushan) and adman Piyush Pandey (Shri) will also be conferred with the awards.
