With Dashain approaching, Kathmandu’s markets are filling with goats, sheep, and he-goats brought from outside the Valley. Farmers and traders have started bringing the animals early to meet the festival demand.

The sale of goats and sheep rises sharply from Ghatasthapana as families prepare for puja and festive meals.

At Kalanki and other major trading points, the markets are bustling. Buyers are seen inspecting each animal carefully, weighing size and health before making a purchase.
