The newly constructed overpass at Gwarko in Lalitpur was inaugurated on Friday by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The long-awaited Gwarko overpass, built to ease severe traffic congestion on the Koteshwar–Gwarko–Kalanki road section, has finally opened to the public.
Initiated in February 2022 under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract model, the project faced multiple delays due to design issues and construction halts, pushing completion beyond its original deadline.
Despite the setbacks, officials say the four-lane overpass will now significantly reduce bottlenecks at one of Kathmandu Valley’s busiest intersections.
Here are some photos of the inauguration ceremony taken by the Post’s photojournalist Deepak KC.
