The month-long Madhav Narayan fasting began on Monday, with Hindu devotees assembling along the banks of sacred rivers to observe the annual ritual.
Dedicated to Lord Madhav Narayan (Shiva) and Goddess Shree Swasthani, the fasting begins on the full moon of Poush and lasts for a month. Devotees undertake a strict fast, adhere to disciplinary practices, and participate in rituals such as taking a holy bath and rolling on the ground.
The tale of Goddess Swasthani and Lord Madhav Narayan is recited every evening throughout the month.
Photographs of the rituals, taken by Post photographer Angad Dhakal, showcase the devotion of participants.
