Farmers across the country celebrated National Paddy Day on Friday. The day that falls on the 15th day of the Nepali month of Asar every year marks the beginning of the plantation season.
The day is filled with revelry, traditional music, dance, and food which primarily consists of beaten rice served with curd.
The day has a significant meaning across larger sections of Nepali society as 60 percent of Nepalis depend on agriculture for livelihood.
