The 16th Republic Day was celebrated with gusto at the Nepal Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, on Monday.

The Nepal Army showcased military parades, drills and cultural shows on the occasion. An army helicopter also showered flower petals and unfurled a Republic Day banner in the air to mark the special day.

Dance troupes presented traditional dances reflecting various indigenous cultures while the Nepal Army personnel released white pigeons as a sign of peace.

The ceremony was attended by President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal among other high-ranking dignitaries.
