Aspiring candidates rush to apply for temporary police force for November polls

Police offices have started seeing a huge number of applicants for a position in the temporary police force to be recruited from all 77 districts of the country for the upcoming federal and provincial polls slated for November 20.
The government has approved the recruitment of 1,15,000 temporary police personnel with the applications opened from Thursday in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur police premises and the district police offices across the country.
Nepal police published a public notice on Sunday inviting applications from individuals who are above the age of 18 and under 54 years of age from September 15-22 for the 40-day job.
To apply for the job one must be a physically and mentally fit Nepali citizen with basic education, must not hold a criminal record, not be a member of a political party or a terrorist organisation; visual acuity must not be weaker than minus 2 or plus 2. Men must be 5 feet 2 inches tall and women 5.0 feet tall.
The temporary police personnel will get a salary equal to that of a police constable, allowance and other facilities.
The government will bear all the treatment expenses if any police personnel sustains injuries during the elections.
The selection process will take place from September 25-30 and the result will be published on October 11, said police.
