Revellers mark Holi with fervour in hill districts

Phagu Purnima or Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated with much fanfare in the Capital and other parts of the hilly region on Thursday.
The festival is generally celebrated by smearing abeer (red vermilion powder) and throwing colour and water-filled balloons at each other.
Holi revellers gathered at different places of the Capital especially in Basantapur and Thamel to play Holi on Thursday.
Holi celebrations were also in full swing on the streets of Pokhara in Kaski district.
The Rana Tharu community from the Tarai plains of Sudurpaschim province also celebrated Holi on Thurday. The members of the community performed their traditional dance to mark the occasion.
