Post Report
The ongoing lockdown in the wake of Covid-19 has pushed the general life to an unprecedented halt like never before. Schools and colleges around the world have been shut for weeks. The global economy is in ruins.
One of the primary requirements in order to stay safe during the pandemic is the concept of physical distancing. This has had an impact on various communities especially during times of religious festivals. Such one festival is the month-long Ramadan festival, celebrated by the followers of Islam around the world, which began on Saturday.
The impact was also seen in Nepal as devotees prepared themselves for the festival, since early morning. Unlike past years, they are abstaining from communal rituals of praying in groups and eating together while adjusting with the extraordinary circumstances created by the pandemic.
Post photographer Elite Joshi visited businessman Mohamad Jamshed Ansari’s house in Kumaripati, Lalitpur on Saturday to give us a glimpse of how Nepali Muslims are observing the holy month of Ramadan this year.
