Farmers across the country observed National Paddy Day by organising various programmes on Friday.

The festival, which falls on the 15^th of Nepali month Asad, is marked with rice plantation, dance and playing with muddy water.

Traditionally farmers gather at their fields to plant paddy saplings with great enthusiasm and enjoy Dahi Chyura (yoghurt and beaten rice) as a special dish for the day.

Nepal has been observing the day every 15th day of the third month in Nepali calendar since 2005.
