Police Assistant Head Constable Surya Kumar Shrestha, who was injured in a motorcycle accident in Phikkal Rural Municipality, died in the course of treatment on Monday.

According to Superintendent of Police Govinda Kafle, Shrestha was airlifted to the Nepal Police Hospital in Kathmandu following primary treatment at the Sunkoshi Community Hospital in Khurkot. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment in the Capital.

On Sunday, Assistant Sub Inspector Rabindra Thakur and Shrestha were returning from patrol when the two-wheeler they were riding on lost control and fell some 50 metres off the road.

Thakur died in the course of treatment at the Khurkot-based community hospital. His body will be handed to his family after post-mortem at the Sindhuli Hospital, police said.
