Two people died in a road accident in Bohoretar of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality on Monday morning.

Twenty-year-old Susan Rai and an 18-year-old girl, pillion rider, were killed after the two-wheeler they were riding collided with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction on the BP Highway.

Agitated locals set the bus on fire and blocked the Bohoretar-section of the highway in protest for about three hours. They have accused the vehicle driver of negligence, and demand stringent action be taken against the accused.

The bus driver has been taken into custody and further investigation into the matter is underway, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiranjivi Dahal.

Obstruction has been cleared and traffic along the highway has resumed, police said.
