Authorities in Dolakha have alerted communities living along the Tamakoshi river and along the Nepal-China border to remain safe and exercise precautions, warning of a flood.
Issuing a notice on Friday night, the District Administration Office has alerted the people to remain safe, saying a landslide on the Chinese side has blocked the river, and the waterflow could suddenly rise to the level of flooding.
According to the notice, issued at 9:45pm, incessant heavy rain in RongXia city and surrounding area of Tingri county, bordering Nepal, has caused massive landslides blocking the river flow.
Release of water can increase water level in the Tamakoshi river, causing floods in areas along the Nepal-China border and communities living nearby the river, said the statement.
The authorities have suggested that people remain alert and move to safer places in case of any signs of floods and inform the local units and security forces.
Dolakha’s neighbouring district Sindhupalchok has been reeling under monsoon-related disasters like floods and landslides, leaving a trail of destruction.
