One dead, another injured after truck hit bicycle in Sarlahi

17-year-old Anjali Kumari Mahato lost her life while her sister Puja sustained serious injuries.

A 17-year-old girl died when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the bicycle she was riding along the Banke-Sangrampur road, at Mirchaiya Bazaar of Haripurwa Municipality-9, Sarlahi on Friday morning.

Cyclist Anjali Kumari Mahato of Ishwarpur Municipality-13 lost her life and her sister Puja, 15, riding on the same bicycle sustained serious injuries. She is undergoing treatment at a local medical facility.

Police have arrested the truck driver Laxman BK, a 31-year-old resident of Taiwan Tole. The victim’s body has been sent to Malangawa Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai.
