A man has been arrested on the charge of murdering his own mother in Fakumwa of Maiwakhola Rural Municipality on Monday.

According to the police, 33-year-old Dilli Kumar Limbu was taken into police custody for murdering his mother, Dhanmaya Limbu, with an axe.

Police arrested the accused along with the weapon after receiving the information, said Police Inspector Kushram Karki, also the information officer at the Taplejung district police office.

Although the incident took place at around 10am, the locals only informed the police at around noon, Karki said.

The reason for the attack is still unknown. Further investigation into the police is underway, police said.
