Unified Socialist to hold general convention from January 28
The party has nominated 21 new members to its central committee.Post Report
The CPN (Unified Socialist) has nominated 21 new members to its central committee. The party, which broke off the CPN-UML two years ago, also decided to hold its tenth general convention from January 28-February 1.
The new members are Aja Bahadur Malla, Om Charan Amatya, Gautam Rai, Govinda Chepang, Chandraa Shrestha, Chiranjivi Bhattarai, Jaya Prakash Yadav, Dipak KC, Dhan Bahadur Karki, Dharma Shahi, Nanda Banjade, Barunath Yogi, Baikuntha Bhusal, Bhaktiman Subba, Mina Lama, Ram Prasad Dhungana, Lanka Hamal, Shalikram Bhattarai, Shiva Kumari Khanal, Shailendra Upadhyaya, and Sudesh Parajuli, the party said in its circular. They were nominated as per the party statute that provisions a 351-member central committee.
Unified Socialist chair Madhav Kumar Nepal circulated the decision to party members on Thursday. The party leadership has directed leaders and cadres to prepare for the general convention as per the working schedule.
As per the circular, Nepal will lead the overall activities of the party and the general secretary will oversee the organisational activities and monitor the sister wings of the party. Secretary Ram Kumari Jhakri has been given the charge of the party’s committees in Europe, America and Latin America.
The party also formed a committee led by vice-chair Rajendra Prasad Pandey to monitor the implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) between the Nepal government and the United States.
