CPN-UML lawmaker Lila Kumari Bhandari has been elected unopposed as vice chair of the National Assembly.
The meeting of the upper house held on Monday unanimously endorsed a proposal presented by lawmaker Prem Prasad Dangal to elect Bhandari to the post.
Bhandari was elected with the consensus of major parties, including the UML, Nepali Congress and Nepali Communist Party.
She has previously served as a Constituent Assembly member and as state minister for education, science and technology.
