Government recommends summoning federal parliament session on Thursday
Cabinet meeting also decides to form taskforce to prepare discussion paper on constitutional amendment.Post Report
The government has decided to recommend to President Ramchandra Paudel to summon a session of the federal parliament this coming Thursday.
Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel confirmed that a Cabinet meeting on Monday took a decision to this effect.
According to the constitution provisions, the president summons a federal parliament session on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
This will be the first session of both the National Assembly and the House of Representatives following the conclusion of the recently held parliamentary elections on March 5.
Similarly, the meeting formed a taskforce to prepare a discussion paper on constitutional amendment.
The taskforce, headed by Asim Shah, the Prime Minister's political adviser, and tasked with identifying areas requiring amendment, will represent all political parties in Parliament, said Pokharel, also Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Youth and Sports.
The discussion paper will be prepared to facilitate constitutional amendment through national consensus, he added.
