PM Dahal, leaders congratulate Indian PM Modi on election victory

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli have congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his party’s victory in the 2024 elections.
Dahal took to X to ‘note the successful completion of the world’s largest democratic exercise with the enthusiastic participation of the people of India’ as Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party won 240 seats in the 543-member lower house.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats, 21 more than the 272 needed to form a government.
“Congratulations to PM @narendramodi on the electoral success of BJP and NDA in the Loksabha elections for the third consecutive term,” reads the prime minister’s post.
Congress President Deuba, who is also the leader of the main opposition, also took to social media X to congratulate the Indian prime minister.
“Congratulations to @narendramodi ji, a great friend of Nepal, on securing a third consecutive term as Prime Minister of India following the BJP and NDA's victory,” former prime minister Deuba wrote on Wednesday. “Your leadership, dedication, and vision continue to inspire and shape a bright future for India.”
Likewise, CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli joined the leaders to congratulate the Indian leader.
“I congratulate the Indian people for their great democratic exercise,” former prime minister Oli said on X. “I wish for your continued success in driving India’s progress and prosperity.”
