Home Ministry forms committee to probe Balkumari incident
The three-member panel has been asked to submit a report within seven days.Post Report
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday formed a three-member committee to investigate the Balkumari incident that saw two protesters dead.
According to Kamal Giri, press adviser to Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the committee led by Deputy Inspector General Lalmani Acharya includes Lalitpur Assistant Chief District Officer Amar Dip Sunuwar and Superintendent of Police Basu Sigdel of the National Investigation Department as members.
The probe committee has been asked to submit a report within seven days.
Two protesters died during a demonstration by Korean Language test candidates at Balkumari, Lalitpur on Friday afternoon. The deceased are 23-year-old Sujan Raut and Birendra Shah.
The cause for both deaths is yet to be ascertained.
The clash ensued after protesters set a vehicle of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala on fire.
The Korean Language test candidates were staging demonstrations demanding that they be allowed to appear for language tests for jobs in the manufacturing sector in South Korea.
Those who failed the language proficiency test for shipbuilding jobs took to the streets demanding they be allowed to appear for language tests for the manufacturing sector.
Police have arrested scores of protesters.
