Nepal Oil Corporation Managing Director Umesh Prasad Thani resigned on Tuesday. Thani handed over his resignation to Minister for Industry Commerce and Supplies Ramesh Rijal.
Thani, who was appointed the chief of the state-owned oil monopoly by the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government on March 10, 2022, quit a year and three months before his tenure expires.
People close to Thani said he is preparing to join active politics. He is the former chief of an engineering association close to the ruling Nepali Congress.
