Dengue cases cross 14,000-mark
Epidemiology and Disease Control Division says death toll from the virus stands at ten.Post Report
The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division on Thursday said dengue cases across the country have crossed the 14,000-mark.
In a ‘situation report on dengue’, the division said 14,357 cases have been reported so far, while the death toll from the virus stands at ten.
Of the 77 districts of the country, 75 have reported cases of infection from the dengue virus. The disease has not been reported in Mugu and Humla of Karnali Province so far.
As of now, four districts have over 500 cases, the division said. Sunsari, Morang and Dhading are the three districts mostly affected by the virus. Sunsari, which is the epicentre of the virus outbreak this year, recorded 7,459 cases of infection. Morang and Dhading have reported 1,676 and 1,320 cases respectively.
Province-wise, Koshi Province has the highest 10,813 cases followed by Bagmati at 2,009 cases. Gandaki has reported 603 cases, Sudurpaschim 451, Lumbini 307, Madhesh 135 and Karnali Province has reported 39 cases.
