Police baton charge doctor for walking during President’s convoy
Irate doctors of Bir Hospital and National Trauma Centre block the traffic for half an hour denouncing the attack.
Post Report
Doctors at Bir Hospital and National Trauma Centre protested on Friday after police baton-charged a doctor for walking during a President’s convoy.
Nava Raj Gautam, section officer of the trauma centre, said Dr Janith Singh was attacked by on-duty police personnel while he was heading to the hospital to join his duty.
Dr Singh has sustained injuries on his head.
Irate doctors blocked the traffic for half an hour denouncing the attack.
The traffic police had halted all traffic during a convoy of President Bidya Devi Bhandari while she was en route and returning from the Parliament.
Traffic obstructions like the one on Friday have become commonplace, leading to frustration and anger among citizens who see the roadblocks as a remnant of the ousted monarchy.
