With 331 new Covid cases, Nepal’s tally reaches 8,605
According to the Health Ministry, the coronavirus has now spread to 74 districts.Post Report
Nepal on Saturday reported 331 new Covid-19 infections, taking the national tally to 8,605.
“Samples of 61 individulas from Doti, 33 from Palpa, 32 from Nawalparasi (East), 24 from Mahottari, 23 from Tanahun, 20 from Baglung, 18 each from Baitadi and Gulmi, 14 from Banke, 12 from Dadheldhura, nine from Sarlahi, eight each from Dhading, Morang and Pyuthan, seven each from Bardiya, Bhaktapur and Rautahat, four each from Bara and Dang, three from Ramechhap, three from Kailali, two from Sunsari, and one each from Jhapa, Kathmandu, Nawalparasi (West), Rukum (West), Rupandehi, and Syangja tested positive for the coronavirus,” Health Ministry Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said during a regular press briefing.
Nepal reported 426 cases on Friday and a record 671 cases, the highest single day number, along with two deaths, on Thursday. On Wednesday, 586 cases were confirmed while 380 positive cases were recorded on Tuesday. As many as 451 samples tested positive for the virus on Monday. Nepal’s 19th death and 425 news cases were confirmed on Sunday.
According to the ministry, the coronavirus has now spread to 74 districts, with just Mustang, Okhaldhunga and Rasuwa untouched.
Rautahat has so far reported 1,112 cases, the highest for a district, followed by Dailekh with 725 cases while Kapilvastu has reported 680 cases.
“So far, 169,165 polymerase chain reaction tests and 252,300 rapid diagnostic tests have been carried out across the country,” said Gautam.
According to Gautam, 1,578 people have been discharged from various hospitals after recovering.
