President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday authenticated the National Medical Education Bill. With the authentication, the Bill has changed into the law.
Earlier on January 25, the House of Representatives had endorsed the National Medical Education Bill amidst protest from the main opposition Nepali Congress. Following the endorsement, the Bill was sent to the National Assembly for approval.
The National Assembly meeting on February 1 had endorsed the National Medical Education Bill with a majority votes amid protests by main opposition Nepali Congress.
Nepali Congress lawmakers had been protesting the bill, saying that it didn't incorporate the demands of agitating Dr Govinda KC and recommendations of Mathema committee report.
Following the endorsement of the Bill from both the Houses, Nepali Congress had warned of launching protests from the Parliament and streets, saying that the government started the politics of negation.
The party had also expressed its dissatisfaction over the role of House Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, accusing Mahara of not being an impartial speaker.
Similarly, the Head-of-the-state also authenticated the Bill to revise an Act to Regulate and Control International Trade in Endangered Wild Fauna and Flora, 2017 and the Employees Adjustment Bill- 2075 BS.
The President’s Office said that the Bills were authenticated as per 113 (920) of the Nepal’s constitution.
