Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Prajatantrik) led by Pashupati Shumsher Rana and Ekikrit Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Rastrabadi) led by Prakash Chandra Lohani are set to announce their unification on Friday.
The decision to unify the two parties was made after signing an agreement document this afternoon.
The unified party would be called Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Samyukta). The unified party will have ‘plough’ as its election symbol.
The party unification programme will be held in City Hall at 1 pm tomorrow.
As per the agreement, the general convention will be held within one year and Rana and Lohani will co-chair the unified party till then.
Leaders said that they have decided to merge the two parties with an objective to form a strong nationalist democratic party.
The ideological base of the unified party will be nationality, democracy and liberalism, it is learnt.
The party will form a special direction committee comprising two chairmen to operate the daily activities until the general convention.
