One killed in Sunsari as assailants open fire near Nepal-India border

According to the police, Maulana Khursid Ansari, Chairman of the management committee of Rauyan National Public School was shot to death by two assailants who came on a motorcycle with Indian registration.
Ansari was returning home from a school meeting when the assailants shot him in the head and chest. The site of the incident is just 100 metres from the school.
The perpetrators, likely Indian nationals, fled the scene and headed towards Nepal-India border following the incident.
Police had barricaded the border however, the assailants opened fire at the police and injured a police constable and were able to escape towards India from an open border some 3kms from Ghuski.
Constable Shiva Poudel sustained bullet injuries to his hand and leg and has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The police are yet to ascertain the cause for the attack.
Meanwhile, the police are preparing to handover the body of Ansari to his family.
