Chief Minister of Province 4 Prithvi Subba Gurung won a vote of confidence from the provincial Parliament on Friday.

Of the 58 lawmakers presented in the Parliament, Gurung received 41 votes. Deepak Manange, who was recently elected as an independent candidate to a provincial assembly seat from Manang district, is on the cusp of being suspended and Speaker Netranath Adhikari did not cast his vote.

Twenty seven lawmakers of CPN-UML, 11 of CPN (Maoist Centre) and three of Rastriya Janamorcha cast their votes in support of Gurung, while 15 lawmakers of Nepali Congress and two of Naya Shakti Party-Nepal cast their votes against Gurung.

As per the Article 168 (4) of the new constitution, new Chief Minister should win the vote of confidence from the parliament within 30 days of appointment.
