The Ministry of Health on Tuesday formed a probe panel to look into the controversy surrounding Ghattekulo-based National Medical College.
A ministerial level decision formed the panel to inspect the medical college after media splashed reports that the Tribhuvan University Executive Council granted affiliation to the college that is not operational.
The committee comprising eight members includes Dipendra Raman Singh, Gunaraj Lohani, Bholaram Shrestha, Narayan Dhakal, Runa Jha, Swoyam Prakash Pandit, Kabita Aryal and Bhawanath Khatiwoda.
The ministry has asked the committee to furnish its report on the situation of the hospital in a week’s time. The committee will study whether the hospital has fulfilled the due procedure to run a medical college.
