A British tourist died after being struck by a rolling boulder while trekking at Ghoptebhir in Thasang Rural Municipality-4 in Mustang region on Thursday.
Twenty-one-year-old Charlotte Imkathrin Fullerton died after he was hit by a boulder on his head during descent towards Tatopani in Myagdi district from Lete in Mustang yesterday evening, local police post said. The deceased Briton’s brother and a Nepali guide, who have sustained minor injuries have been receiving medical attention at Lete-based health post.
Likewise, Nepali trekker Dal Bahadur Phagami of Malaka-5 was injured in a landslide. He has sustained serious injuries on his backbone and leg as has been admitted at Pokhara-based Manipal hospital, police said.
“Immediately after learning about the incident, the tourist was rushed to Jomson-based District Hospital where he was pronounced dead,” said sub-inspector at Ghansa-based police post Gopal Bahadur Khatri.
