Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma said on Wednesday that investigation into the deaths of four children in Rautahat is underway.
Four children had drowned in a rain-filled pit dug for road expansion at Garuda Municipality-4 in Rautahat on Saturday. Seeking time from Speaker Onasari Gharti during Wednesday’s meeting of the Parliament, Minister Sharma informed the House that a team led by Dipak Kafle, chief of the peace and security division under the Ministry of Home Affairs has reached the incident site to investigate into the children’s deaths.
The guilty would be brought to book after the probe team submits its report, Minister Sharma told the House.
Sangita Sah, 12, and three nine-year-old girls—Sunita Sah, Sushmita Sah, and Sunaina Sah—had drowned in the rain-filled pit which according to locals is eight-foot deep. The girls had gone out to cut grass in the morning. The pit was dug to build a feeder road along the Chandranigahpur-Gaur section.
