Defeating the Nepali Congress-CPN (Maoist Centre) alliance, CPN-UML candidate Shiva Raj Subedi was elected mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City on Wednesday.
Subedi secured 23,249 votes to defeat NC’s Khelraj Pandey, who garnered 20,861 votes, to become mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City.
Similarly, UML’s Goma Devi Acharya was elected deputy mayor by acquiring 25301 votes. She defeated Jagat Bahadur Pokharel of CPN (Maoist Centre), who polled 14, 792 votes.
