The government has decided to hand over the much touted Kathmandu Tarai Fast Track road project to Nepal Army.
A Cabinet meeting on Thursday took the decision paving the way for Nepal Army to build a 76-km expressway linking Kathmandu with Nijgadh of Bara district. The road project has been in limbo for the past one-decade.
Earlier in December, the government had scrapped all the agreements made with an Indian firm to build the expressway.
Likewise, the government has decided to grant public holiday on May 14 when the country will hold the first-phase of local level election in 34 districts of three provinces 3, 4, and 6.
The government has also decided to shut schools in the 34 districts for a week in the lead up to the elections.
