Pokhara
Holidaymakers who wish to enjoy a boat ride in Phewa Lake of Pokhara will have to compulsorily wear life jackets from now on.
Although the local authorities had introduced life jacket rule for boat operators in the lake city back in 2012, it was frequently overlooked in absence of monitoring.
After two persons drowned in a boat capsize last week, Kaski District Administration Office has decided to strictly enforce the life jacket rule.
Pokhara police will make sure that the rule is followed without exception.
Those who violate the rule will face legal action, warned Superintendent of Police Ghana Shyam Aryal.
Pokhara police is also preparing to set up a rescue centre at Hallanchowk in case of boat riding accidents.
