bookmarkThe UCPN (Maoist) on Sunday named Lharkyal Lama as its lawmaker under proportional representation (PR) category. Lama was appointed in place of Sambhu Paswan Hajari, whose Constituent Assembly membership was scrapped by the Supreme Court as he was found holding the post under the PR system without resigning as the member of National Dalit Commission.

Lama, who was named lawmaker from the CPN-UML in the first CA, was dragged into controversy after media brought to light his involvement in possessing multiple citizenships, passports and his dual role in “Free Tibet” as well as “One China Policy”.
Lama, who was later appointed as State Minister for Finance, was sacked from the position. He later joined the Maoist party. Though the government formed a probe panel to investigate charges against him, its report has not yet been made public.
