Huawei focuses on talent development to strengthen Nepal’s digital future

Huawei has been contributing to Nepal’s digital transformation for more than two decades, playing a significant role in the development of telecommunications and ICT infrastructure across the country.
In collaboration with telecom operators, the company has supported the evolution from 2G and 3G to 4G services, while also delivering solutions in data centres, ICT infrastructure, network development, smartphones and consumer electronics.
Beyond infrastructure, Huawei has prioritised human capital development, recognising skilled talent as a cornerstone of Nepal’s digital future. Through structured initiatives, the company has supported the growth of an ICT workforce aligned with national digital priorities.
A flagship initiative is Huawei Nepal’s “Seeds for the Future” programme, launched in 2019 as part of the company’s global corporate social responsibility efforts to nurture young ICT talent and promote digital innovation.
Since its launch, the programme has trained 49 Nepali students through international cultural and technological exchange programmes in China, Thailand and Singapore, both physically and virtually. More than 170 students in Nepal have also benefited from local training and digital skills development.
Globally, Seeds for the Future—first launched in 2008—has benefited over 19,000 students from more than 140 countries. In 2025, five Nepali students were selected to participate alongside more than 65 international students in the global programme, receiving hands-on training in 5G, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
