Hotel Yak & Yeti concluded its annual Chimney Lighting Ceremony for 2025 on Thursday at The Chimney Restaurant, located within the historic Lal Durbar Complex in Kathmandu.

The event, which is rooted in a tradition established decades ago by Chef Boris Lissanevitch, recognised for his early contribution to Nepal’s tourism and fine-dining culture.

The programme featured the symbolic lighting of the Chimney, a presentation of seasonal dishes, a guided walkthrough of Lal Durbar’s interiors, and interactions with the hotel’s management and culinary team.

Kiran Thapa, outlet manager at The Chimney, said the annual ceremony reflects the hotel’s effort to preserve the cultural and culinary significance of the property while maintaining a consistent standard of hospitality. He expressed appreciation to media representatives for their participation.

Hotel Yak & Yeti has said it will continue to prioritise the historical value of Lal Durbar as it develops new experiences for guests and partners.
