The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal on Monday asked the European Union to facilitate the EU market for Nepali goods.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the first EU Nepal Business Forum 2023 entitled 'Unleashing Opportunities for EU Trade and Investment in Nepal' in the capital, Dhakal asked the EU to provide greater entry to Nepali goods to its market as it might lose the duty free access to European countries after its graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC).
He said that Nepal and the EU share a huge scope for cooperation in investment and market linkages in many sectors ranging from hydropower, solar, wind energy, tourism, ICT, agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, tea, coffee to herbal products.
Stating that the Nepali economy was not in good health, he asked the EU and its business community to bring in more investment and support to Nepal.
He said that Nepal had ample opportunities to further strengthen mutually beneficial economic partnerships with the European Union which has 27 member states and represents one of the world's largest economies.
