Huawei’s authorised distributor Call Mobility said it is launching the flagship Huawei Ascend P8 on July 10, while Gionee’s dealer Teletalk plans to introduce the Elife E8 by August. Both the phones will be competing in the approximately Rs55,000 price range, according to the officials.
The Ascend P8, a successor to the P7 launched in 2014, is Huawei’s thinnest phone which measures 144.9mm x 72.1mm x 6.4mm and features 5.2-inch Full HD display. The phone sports 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
“We have high expectations from this new flagship as it is sleek, powerful and comes with many unique features. Camera is the main focus of this phone,” said Roshan Neupane, head of marketing at Call Mobility. He said the Ascend P6 was the highest selling phone under the P series.
The P8 is powered by 2GHz Octa-Core processor and runs Android Lollipop 5 OS. Other features are 4G, Dual SIM functionality, 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage.
The Ascend P8 will have 2,680mAh battery. The company will also launch the P8 Lite, featuring a 1.2GHz Octa-Core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 5-inch IPS capacitive screen, Android Lollipop 5 OS, 2,200mAh battery and 13MP rear camera.
Gionee which had launched its new flagship, the Elife E8, in China last month, plans to unveil it in Nepal by August.
The Elife E8 has a 24MP rear camera. The phone also has optical image stabilisation, lossless zoom up to 3x and 4K video recording.
The phone has 8MP front camera for the perfect “selfie”. Powered by 2GHz processor, the phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Amigo 3.1 OS. Other features include a 6-inch QHD (1600x2560) Super Amoled display, 3GB RAM, fingerprint scanner, dual speakers and 4GB internal storage.
The Elife E8 is equipped with a 3520mAh battery. “As the phone has high specifications in various categories and comes with very competitive price, it will do very well in the domestic market,” said Samir Dhungana, brand manager at Teletalk.
The company will also roll out the Gionee Marathon M5, successor to the Gionee Marathon M3. The M5 comes with two 3,010mAh batteries. The company claims the batteries will last up to four days on a single charge.
