Sporadic clashes broke out between the cadres of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) and the security personnel in various places of Biratnagar, Morang on Thursday.
SLMM cadres and security personnel clashed at Mahabir Chok, Mahendra Chok, Bargachhi Chok, Gudrihat, Kesaliya Marg, Roadcess Chok, Sarochiya and the Nepali territory at the border with India. Meanwhile, the protesters took out a symbolic rally carrying lanterns, saying that the government lost its sight.
Police fired three rounds of teargas shells to contain the agitated mob while the protestors attacked the police with catapult, stones and brickbats. The situation remained tense due to clashes at major thoroughfares.
