Kathmandu
CPN-UML has nominated two leaders, who had previously deserted the party, to its Central Committee (CC).

The Standing Committee meeting on Sunday nominated Radha Krishna Mainali and Bijay Subba as its CC members, UML Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal informed.

Mainali had deserted the party to join the UCPN (Maoist) three years ago. He was appointed as Minister for Education during the direct regime of deposed King Gyanendra Shah. He was removed from the UML Standing Committee for holding dialogues with then King Gyanendra. He is known for his prominent role during Jhapa movement and also a founder of then CPN-ML.

Likewise, Subba had quit the UML to join the Sanghiya Samajwadi Party led by Ashok Kumar Rai. He returned back to the UML six months ago.

According to sources, preparations are being made to induct Mainali into Standing Committee and Subba into politburo committee. Subba was an alternate politburo member prior to leaving the party.
