Constituent Assembly (CA) by-elections were conducted peacefully at four constituencies—Kathmandu-2, Chitwan-4, Bardiya-1 and Kailali-6 on Sunday as people cast their votes for the by-polls.

The votings started from 7:00 am in the morning in all the four constituencies as people could be seen lining up to cast their votes.

The Election Commission (EC) had made arrangements of electronic -voting system in all the four constituencies.

The EC stated that voting for the CA by-election took place with lot of enthusiasm and in a peaceful manner. In Chitwan district, voters had lined up at the polling stations in Chitwan-4 from early morning.

Earlier in the day, Chief Election Commissioner Nil Kantha Uprety had urged the voters to vote for the candidates without any fear stating that reliable security measures had been followed.

According to EC, a total of 253,400 voters and 76 parties and independent candidates participated in the by-elections of the four constituencies held today.

The EC has managed 39 voting centers and 90 polling booths in Kathmandu constituency-2, 31 voting centers and 81 booths in Chitwan constituency-4, 37 voting centers and 78 booths in Bardiya constituency-1, and 30 voting centers and 75 booths in Kailali constituency-6.

The casting of the votes ended at 5:00 pm.

Today's by-elections were scheduled after the leaders of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, elected from two constituencies, resigned from their respective areas.
