535 new cases take Nepal’s Covid-19 tally to 9,561

Nepal on Monday reported 535 new Covid-19 cases, taking the national tally to 9,561.
“Samples of 90 individuals from Palpa, 58 from Kailali, 56 from Gulmi, 47 from Sarlahi, 35 from Syangja, 34 from Rautahat, 30 from Pyuthan, 24 from Nawalparasi (East), 23 from Siraha, 15 each from Saptari and Dadeldhura, 14 from Baitadai, 13 from Dang, 12 each from Morang and Rupandehi, 11 from Tanahun and 10 from Dhanusha tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours,” said Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson for the Health Ministry during a regular press briefing.
“Swab samples of nine persons from Argakhanchi, seven from Doti, five each from Chitwan and Nawalparasi (West), three from Jhapa, two each from Achham and Sindhupalchok and one each from Mahottari, Jajarkot and Okhaldhunga also came positive,” added Dr Gautam.
There were 421 new cases and one death reported on Sunday while Nepal recorded 331 new coronavirus cases on Saturday. The country detected 426 cases on Friday and a record 671 cases, the highest daily tally, along with two deaths on Thursday. On Wednesday, 586 cases were confirmed while 380 positive cases were recorded on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the virus has been found in 76 districts so far with Rasuwa in Bagmati province the only district without any case.
Rautahat has a total of 1,146 cases, the highest for a district, followed by Dailekh with 726 infections while Kapilvastu has 705 Covid patients.
“So far, 181,371 polymerase chain reaction tests and 268,103 rapid diagnostic tests have been carried out across the country,” said Gautam.
According to Gautam, 2,148 people have been discharged from various hospitals after recovering with 370 discharged within the last 24 hours.
