Nawalparasi East
Tourism entrepreneurs based in Nawalparasi East have protested against Chitwan National Park (CNP)’s plan to shift six one-horned rhinos to Chitwan from Nawalparasi.
The protesting entrepreneurs on Sunday submitted a memorandum to Chief District Officer Arun Pokharel, urging him not to implement the decision regarding the translocation of the rhinos. Amaltari and its surrounding areas of Kawasoti have been a major habitat of the rhinos.
The tourism entrepreneurs claimed that the shifting of rhinos will affect tourism in Nawalparasi East. The CNP shifted six rhinos to Chitwan from Nawalparasi East last year as well.
