Nepal to play tri-series against Namibia, Netherlands ahead of T20 World Cup
The Rhinos will play the T20I series against Namibia and the Netherlands three days after hosting the same nations in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 from February 17-24.Sports Bureau
Nepal national men’s senior cricket team will host Namibia and the Netherlands in the Tri-Nation T20I Series in Kathmandu in February before participating in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20I World Cup in USA and West Indies in June, according to cricket calendar 2024 unveiled by the cricket governing body Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Thursday.
The T20I Series will take place from February 27–March 5.
Nepal ended their decade-long wait to return to the global showpiece after defeating the United Arab Emirates by eight wickets in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier in November last year. This will be Nepal’s second appearance at a World Cup after they first qualified in the 2014 tournament in Bangladesh.
Nepal will play the Tri-Nation T20I Series against Namibia and the Netherlands three days after hosting the same nations in the first round of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 2023–2027 from February 17–24. Prior to those fixtures, Nepal will also welcome Canada in the bilateral one-day international series from February 10–14.
Nepal are also expected to play away at Hong Kong before hosting Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A, Afghanistan A in T20 matches to fine tune their preparation for the World Cup.
Following the T20 World Cup, Nepal will play with Canada and Oman in the T20I Tri-Nation Series and Cricket World Cup League 2 in Canada in September. Nepal will next play another bilateral ODI series against Canada the same month.
The Rhinos are expected to end their year with a T20I Tri Nation Series and League 2 matches against the United States and Scotland in the US in October.
