Dhaulagiri glacier has started shrinking due to melting of ice. The glaciers are becoming thin in the mountainous region of late.

A community health post has been established in the remote village of Tikot, Histan, in memory of Naina Singh Pun, the father of a retired British Gurkha major Chandra Bahadur.
