Bal Sahitya Mahotsav this week
The fourth edition of the Bal Sahitya Mohatsav is scheduled to be held on February 10 and 11, at the premises of Rato Bangala School, in Patan Dhoka.The fourth edition of the Bal Sahitya Mohatsav is scheduled to be held on February 10 and 11, at the premises of Rato Bangala School, in Patan Dhoka. The children’s literary festival is expected to host a wide array of workshops for teachers, parents, and students. The event will also see book stalls, games, reading out loud, and musical and theatrical activities, alongside storytelling sessions with David Heathfield, a renowned international storyteller, also the special guest for the festival.
The workshops for students will focus on introducing young minds to various styles of writing, while the workshops for parents and teachers will deal with various pedagogical tools that can be used in classrooms and home to cultivate reading habits at an early age. The festival will also feature critical discussions on finding ways of expanding the corpus of children’s literature.
Organised with the intention of raising awareness on the benefits of literature to parents and teachers, promoting a reading culture, and fostering discussions, the organisers hope that the festival can be expanded to other rural districts and have a greater outreach.
Each year, the organisers bring in students and teachers from outside the Valley, and this year too many from across the region are participating in the literary fest. In the previous editions, late Kamal Mani Dixit, Suraj Singh Thakuri, and Madan Krishna Shrestha have attended the event, and this year as well several celebrities are expected to attend the festival.
The event will begin at 10 am, and the ticket is priced at Rs 200.
