Radio Kantipur Music Award nominees unveiled
Radio Kantipur has announced its nominations for this year’s Radio Kantipur Music Awards. The nominations include Nepali songs of all genres that were released between 2016 July and 2017 July.
Nominated for the Best Music Director are Hari Lamsal (for the song Aaja Pheri), Kali Prasad Baskota (Sainli), Arjun Pokhrel (Bhanchhu Aaja), Mahesh Khadka (Darshan Namaste) and Nhyoo Bajracharya (Kina Herinau).
The award for the Best Lyrics will go to one lyricist among Uttam Jung Limbu (Sirai ma Sirbandi), Subash Gautam (Katai Milan), Ramesh BG (Ma Huri Ma), Birendra Pathak (Aaja Pheri), Puran Giri (Yeti Dherai Maya).
Likewise, nominated for the category of Best Pop Singer (Female) are artists Bartika Eam Rai (Khai), Indira Joshi (Girlfriend), Trishna Gurung (Gurans Fulyo), Shreya Sotang (Maya Ho ki Hoina), Nattu Shah (Ankha Bhari)); while Lahure (Super Raag), Dharmendra Sewan (Pahadma Hurkeki), Sugam Pokhrel (Darshan), Kamal Khatri (Jaaunla Relaima), Dipak Bajracharya (Saani) are nominated for the category of Best Pop Singer (Male).
Furthermore, nominated under the category of Best Song of the year are titles Madhusala (by Satya Raj Acharya), Jaaunla Relaima (Kamal Khatri), Aaja Pheri (Ajar Jangam), Ma Hurima (Ram Krishna Dhakal), and Yeti Dherai Maya (Banika Pradhan); the nominees of Best Album include Aawaran (Ram Krishna Dhakal), Darshan Namaste 3 (Rajesh Payal Rai), Madhusala (Satya Raj Acharya), Aakash Michiyeko Shahar (Ajar Jangam) and Agraj (Raju Babu Shrestha).
Other titles of nomination include Best Band (Cobweb, 1974 AD, Night, Pahenlo Batti Muni, and Monkey Temple); Best Lok Dohori Singer, male and female; Best Playback Singer, male and female; Best National Song; and Best Adhunik singer, male and female. Nominees under the People’s Choice Award include songs such as Sainli, Kutu ma Kutu, Thamel Bajaar, Super Raga, and Chiya Coffee.
The awards ceremony, which will mark the 20th anniversary of Kantipur FM, will be held on Feb 9.
