Renowned DJ Paul Oakenfold to perform live at Mt Everest base camp

Paul Oakenfold and friends are set to embark on a serious of treks to the planet’s amazing locations to showcase the musical cultures from around the world.
As part of the SoundTrek, Paul Oakenfold and friends make the journey through Nepal’s remote villages to Mount Everest Base Camp for a live concert at an altitude of 5,350 meters. The event is slated for 11th of April.
“I was utterly thrilled to debut Soundtrek on Mount Everest Nepal’s sacred Sagarmāthā the jewel of the Himalayas it was the most perfect place to start,” said Paul Oakenfold.
Billed as ‘the new music mix for a ‘travelogue generation’, each Soundtrek experience Oakenfold will create a unique SoundTrek mix to provide a sensory journey from some of the world’s most iconic locations.
The project aims to raise money for charities through epic events, sponsors, donations and looks to interact with local culture with music, sounds and global Dance Music.
In addition to the main event at Everest, Soundtrek has hired internationally recognszed and award-winning cinematographer, Mark Fisher of Fisher Creative to direct the Soundtrek documentary to follow Soundtrek for an in depth fly-on-the wall view of what goes into hosting a party gathering at the top of the world.
The goal of this journey is to raise donations for the Earthquake-stricken people of Nepal, before reaching Everest’s base camp.
For the Everest Soundtrek expedition, Oakenfold will be joined by a unique cast of 6 individuals including world-renown mountaineer and Everest guide, Kenton Cool.
An acclaimed British mountaineer and expedition leader Kenton has reached the summit of Everest eleven times and has appeared on the world’s leading broadcast channels from the BBC to ITN also featured in a unique one-hour documentary for BBC 4 & The Discovery Channel with fellow mountaineers Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Ian Parnell.
“I have been to the top of Everest several times now but this experience will be truly unique. Not only is the project groundbreaking, but it also gives us the opportunity to pay our respects to Everest, Nepal and its values by helping to support local culture and charities,” said Kenton Cool.
UK born Paul Oakenfold, is one of the true iconoclast superstars of global dance music and remains a leading force in the Dance world music scene today.
As a 3-time Grammy nominated artist his career highlights span from opening the original Ministry of Sound in London in the early ‘90s to selling over five million records across the world (including five studio albums and over 25 mix albums). As one of the world’s most prolific innovative producers, he has worked with artists from Madonna to U2 and has produced soundtracks for several prominent film and TV concepts.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve performed in an iconic location, My ‘Great Wall’ soundtrack, recorded at the Great Wall of China, was one of my all-time favored experiences, I hope this new project will bring people even closer to my music in joining this amazing journey to support local communities”
Paul will be joined on Soundtrek with Mark Brimblecombe owner of the legendary Attica club in Singapore.
“I’m really very excited for my club brand to part of this great project which will take dance music to the far corners of the world. Our main ambition with SoundTrek is to involve the local cultures and highlight environment matters through the promotion of dance music,” said Mark Brimblecombe.
Also joining the trek will be serial entrepreneur and concert producer Josh Heffler, owner of LineRocket Entertainment, who has produced various unique large-scale events across the globe.
The SoundTrek project will also give the opportunity for up-and-coming DJs and producers to share their music with the world via a global DJ database called the ‘SoundTrek Base’.
“This will be the best and most fitting way to close Soundtrek however, having helped to open up Nepal to Dance Music… Their story will continue,” said Paul Oakenfold.
