According to Madhav Wagle, one of the producers, the film collected a total of Rs 1.51 crores on the first day of its release, on Friday, which made Loot 2 the highest grossing Nepali movie on its opening day. The film went on to collect Rs 1.61 crores on Saturday, Rs 85 lakhs on Sunday, and Rs 96 lakhs on Monday. The collection on Tuesday dipped to Rs 65 lakhs.
Despite its phenomenal run at the box office, the film has received mixed reviews on the critical front. Sushil Paudel, columnist for the Kantipur daily, writes, “It’s true that Loot set a benchmark in Nepal’s cinematic history. But Loot 2 hardly continues the legacy of its predecessor. Plagued by forcefully contrived scenes that just seem lengthy, it’s doubtful the audience would reap the reward they expect from the Nischal Basnet directorial.”
Loot 2 features actors Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Karma, Bipin Karki, Srijana Subba and Alisha Rai, among others.
